63 years of marriage. In January, Chris’s grandparents celebrated 63 years of marriage together. He gave her a diamond heart necklace. They went to Applebee’s. She always cooked and he always did the dishes. He called her Sugar. In their 80s, married for more than half a century, and still so completely in love with each other.
Since the moment I met them I knew Chris and I would have that. We are going to be that crazy in love old couple that you see walking through the latest book store hand in hand. {Will there even be book stores in 50 years? Or will everything be an instant download? That would be tragic} We’ll still eat at Red Lobster and I’ll overindulge in biscuits and pina coladas and he’ll foot the bill. We’ll still argue over nothing. And we’ll still kiss each other goodnight before we go to sleep.
Every once in a while I will have a fleeting thought of what my life would be like without Chris. It doesn’t last long, this moment. I quickly realize that it was never in the cards for me to spend my life with anyone other than him. He was designed for me. I was made for him. Every step I’ve made in this life has been towards him.
God knows what He’s doing. It’s such a great feeling.
Why my marriage is awesome:
- a never ending sleepover with my best friend
- feeling beautiful no matter what I look like on the outside
- we can still make each other laugh. daily
- awkward silences? you mean awesome silences
- mutual love and passion for Christ
- mutual love and passion for Harry Potter
- we make beautiful babies
- he does the laundry
- I provide extra laundry
- we can’t stand to not be together

LOVE this! You all are too cute. Did you know that you would end up together back in high school way back when or was it after that?
Thanks, Maggie! We had no idea. That’s what happens when you end up in Drum Corps for an entire summer with someone you never thought you had ANYTHING in common with. Finally met up that summer after I graduated.
This is seriously the sweetest post I’ve read in a long, long time. Awesome!
