Sweet Pickles and Hot Dogs

That’s all I want right now! And I don’t even like hot dogs.

Because I’m pregnant!

We are so happy and excited and nervous and giddy over this blessing we’ve been given! Most of my family and friends didn’t even know just how long we’ve been trying to add another bundle of baby. Topher and I started talking about taking the plunge for #2 over a year ago. Since it’s taken us so long, it’s only fair to say that God knew we weren’t ready yet.

Maybe we needed more time with just Mason. Maybe we needed more time for our marriage. Maybe I was meant to have to wait for something because we all know I have no patience whatsoever.

how far along are you?

8 weeks and 4 days.
According to The Bump, baby is the size of a raspberry. That’s so tiny! The little bit has just started forming taste buds so it’s about time to instill his or her love for bread just like mommy. We have our second appointment tomorrow and get our first ultrasound so we can see the little bean! Very excited to see the heartbeat officially for the first time. Tomorrow morning couldn’t come fast enough!

any symptoms?

Yes! OH gosh, yes. This pregnancy is so different from the last one. For the first couple of weeks (around weeks 5 and 6) I was cramping almost every day. SO unnerving, but no spotting and I could lessen the pain with a little Tylenol. And let’s talk about the sore boobs. Yikes. Don’t touch. They’ve already grown about a size and a half. I’m trying to hold out for a new bra a little longer in case these girls keep going.

Topher would also appreciate me adding that I have crazy ninja mood swings. I know I’m being ridiculous, but that doesn’t stop me from yelling at him. Poor Topher. He is so patient and kind about it. I really am blessed that he is here with me for all of this. I’m not so sure any other man in this world would ever put up with me!

Now let’s talk food. Mmm, food. Not too much by the way of food aversions… just smell aversions. Cooking meat. The trash. Normal things that don’t necessarily smell great, just that I’m a lot more sensitive to them than I used to be. I am completely in love with hot dogs, sweet whole pickles and spinach and artichoke dip with salty chips. I could eat just that all day. Every day.

Hi! I am a fellow January bumpie. I stumbled across your blog and love it. I am craving pickles too (such a pregnancy cliche, but it’s true!), but the thought of hot dogs makes me run to the nearest bathroom! Good luck and have a happy and healthy 7 months!
